With over 170 partner universities across 37 countries, students have the opportunity to make global connections by going on an exchange, undertaking an internship or participating in fieldwork.ANU has a mix of undergraduate, postgraduate and research students, many of whom live in University residences. International students come mainly from Indonesia, China, Malaysia, Singapore and the USA, with significant numbers also coming from Europe, Hong Kong, the Philippines and Thailand. The campus is located in the centre of the nation's capital, Canberra. Canberra is a university city and home to many national institutions. Offering a cosmopolitan lifestyle, the city has a high concentration of national museums and galleries, as well as cafes and restaurants. We’re big gang-gang fans!

Despite being such an iconic cockatoo and the emblem of the ACT, we know very little about this endangered species. Learning more about gang-gang behaviour and habitat is essential for their conservation.

That’s why researchers from the ANU Fenner School of Environment and Society have been studying the movements of gang-gangs across Australia. They use small GPS transmitters to learn how far the birds travel and where they go during and after breeding.

This conservation project, led by the Difficult Bird Research Group at ANU, will help inform new renewable energy developments and is a key project funded by the Renewables Environmental Research Initiative (RERI) led by the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW). #WorldEnvironmentDay
